Trenkels interest lies with the phaenomenon of the square: how does a place come into existance, that is characterised by the absence of buildings and defined by its surroundings? Besides these paintings and drawings the publication contains a ten-part photo series, which documents the slight variations in the design of hotel rooms on a journey from Chicago to Los Angeles.
