Paul Hutchinson

Paul Hutchinson (*1987 in Berlin, German / Irish citizen) studied at University of the Arts Berlin and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. In his photographic practice and in his writing he considers phenomena of modern day urban life such as youth culture and social inequality. Oscillating between moments of intimacy and fragility, inner city roughness and political statement, he always understands his artistic work as an attempt to create both an accurate and individual portrayal of our times.

Amongst others, Paul Hutchinson has been awarded grants and prizes from Berlinische Galerie, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and University of the Arts Berlin. He is a fellow of Villa Aurora, Los Angeles. After various spells abroad he now lives and works again in his hometown, Berlin.
