Nebahat's Sisters
The filmic and photographic works of Emanuel Mathias are about behavioral patterns, readings and their iconography. Mathias engages with the interaction between reality and fiction. In the 4-channel video installation Nebahat's Sisters, that is documented this book, he examines how the perception of female taxi dribers in today's Istanbul taxi drivers is still reliant on a popular Turkish film, Soför Nebahat, from the 1960s.
Nebahat's Sisters was published on the occasion of the Marion Ermer Preis 2011; it includes a text by Silke Opitz. A booklet with forewords by Lothar Späth and Christian Sery, and an introductory text by Axel Lapp accompanies this publication.
A box-set with all for publications is available seperately.
